Patterns

I was travelling and saw someone order a black coffee.

Truth be told, i order it too.

But why? Why does someone pick up a cigarette? Why does someone hate themselves so much for making a mistake? Why does someone flinch?

There are a billion possible questions.

I started to notice patterns in every possible thing, every possible human does.

The place they keep their coffee on the table, The way they pitch, The way they keep their fingers while eating.

Very minute things but you can derive a basic idea from it. (it can be different from what you judged sometimes, and that can be a dangerous road to go down to, so take this with a grain of salt, for example someone can drink coffee because of addiction or just because they had no milk available)

→if they keep a cup close to them, they might have a habit of sitting with someone.

→they stutter because they think about things too much

→can say a lot about their culture.

Everything anyone does has years of conditioning and patterns behind it.

It is a sum of their:

→Childhood ( The Deterministic school of thought)

→Aims and aspirations ( The Teleological school of thought)

→Environment & Proximity (The Socio-Cultural school of thought)

→Survival and Instinct (The Evolutionary school of thought)

→Immediate context(The Situationist school of thought)

→Choice & Meaning (The Existential school of thought)

→or, even something simple as seeing something randomly

It affects us on a day to day basis and when you put hours into it, it adds up.

if you watch 1-2 sad reels here and there it might do nothing, but if you do it for 1-2 hours daily for sometime, it changes you.

Here is the news,

You can change this.

You can use this to your advantage.

We know that humans are what they ingest through their senses.

Fill it with things, someone who you want to be does.

It can be an idea too.

The patterns always exist.

They stay subconscious, until you make them conscious. They unconsciously dictate every decision of yours until you observe.

"You like to imagine yourself in control of your fate, consciously planning the course of your life as best you can. But you are largely unaware of how deeply your emotions dominate you. They make you veer toward ideas that soothe your ego. They make you look for evidence that confirms what you already want to believe."

  • Robert Greene, The Laws of Human Nature

Observe the patterns, do not go with the flow, the flow leads to sewer.
